Chicken & Potato Buns Filling

A soft and deliciously spicy filling that can be used in buns or sandwiches.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 kg boneless chicken - chopped into cubes then boiled with some water and a bit of salt black pepper and a little bit of ginger/garlic paste until tender then shredded
  • 1 big or 2 medium potatoes - peeled chopped and boiled in some water with a bit of salt until soft, then drained.
  • 1 onion chopped very finely
  • 1 green chilli chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin powder
  • 2 tbsp. coriander chopped
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions
 

  • Heat butter in a pan then add the chopped onion and stir-fry until soft and translucent. Add the shredded chicken and the potatoes, sprinkle a bit of salt and pepper, cumin powder, chopped chilli and coriander and the lemon.
  • Mix together for a few minutes and switch off. Use as required. 🙂

    Wondering if you’ve tried freezing this filling. If so, how long does it keep for?

    1. W/Salaam, generally I try to avoid freezing anything with potatos in it. The problem with potato fillings is that when thawing, potatos release moisture and that can ruin the entire dish. Best to make it fresh.

  2. Assalam aleikum.i want to try this today but I don’t have butter in the house,can use margarine instead??shukran

    1. W/Salaam, pinch of pieces of dough, roll them into circles. Put your filling in the center and gather the edges of the dough like a pouch and pinch it closed. Flatten and place on your greased baking tray.

    never liked potatoes with any sort of breads. but as i trust ur recipes so much that i always try them as it is. and this filling in buns was delish. this is to good i think i can use it in sandwiches also

    This filling cannot be frozen but can it be kept in fridge and for how long?
