Servings : Serves 4
When you want to make a light, quick, yet delicious dessert that your family will enjoy, this is the dessert for you!! I've used Marie biscuits for this one, but you can use just about any good solid sweet tea-biscuit that you like.
Ingredients
- 200gm tea biscuits
- 500ml whole milk
- 6 tbsp. sugar
- pinch of salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla essence
- 2 tsp. instant coffee mixed in 1/2 cup warm water
- 3 tbsp. corn flour/cornstarch
- 3 tbsp. cocoa powder
Instructions
First, prepare the coffee mixture. Let it cool to room temperature. Now remove half the biscuits from the packet (100gm) and proceed to dip each one on both sides then lay them out in a dish. Set aside.
Start preparing the pudding. Mix the corn flour and cocoa powder in a small bowl, add a few tbsp. of milk and stir together until you have a smooth paste without any lumps. If you add too much liquid at once, you won't be able to mix these well so go slow and add only enough milk to get the mixture into a paste.
Pour the rest of the milk into a pot and add the sugar n salt. Bring to the boil then lower the heat and add the vanilla. Then add the cocoa+cornflour paste and keep stirring. The pudding will start to thicken very quickly. Once it is of the consistency of custard…not too thin but not too thick, turn the heat off and take the pot off the stove.
Pour half the hot pudding onto the layered biscuits. You can sprinkle some nuts over this if you want. Now continue dipping the remaining half packet of the biscuits in the coffee as you did before and make another layer over the pudding. Finally pour the remaining pudding over the soaked biscuits and garnish with some nuts of your choice.
Let the biscuit pudding come to room temperature then cover and refrigerate until well-chilled. You can have it as it is, or serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
If you want a coffee-free version, dip the biscuits in some milk instead of coffee and proceed with the remainder of the recipe as directed.
Enjoy! 🙂

Hi Shayista, please re-post your previous comment dear, it may not have registered. 🙂
assalamualaikum fauzia,
i tried this recipe twice, and am encountering a problem.after mixing the cocoa-cornflour mixture very well, when i add it to the milk, there are lumps that don’t dissolve even after stirring for long……. please help
jazakillahkhair.
W/Salaam, when you mix the cocoa-cornflour, do you add a few tbsp. of milk like I’ve directed in the recipe? The cocoa-cornflour mixture has to be a loose ‘paste’ for it to dissolve into the liquid. Adding any powder directly to liquid inevitably will result in lumps. If you’re doing this and you still have lumps, then I think you should try a different brand of cornflour for better results.
jazakillahkhair, will try n let u knw in shaa Allah…..
AOA,
I had the same issue, when I added the choclate corn flour paste in the milk I still had lumps that did not dissolve. I tried it twice, once while on the stove, once off the stove and still got lumps..But I have to add that the taste was awesome and everyone loved it,so thank you very very much!!
try making the corn flour and cocoa mixture thinner..it shudnt be a very thick mixture but rather a very thin and liquid like mix…so when u add it to the milk later..it wont from lumps..i had the same problem the first tym i made it but later i made it into a very thin paste and it worked..gud luck! 🙂
Salaam.
You use whole milk in your recipe…would semi skimmed milk work just as well?
