Caramel Popcorn

A delicious treat, these are guaranteed to be the best caramel popcorn you will ever taste! The recipe makes one huge bowl of popcorn, but they store well…although you might end up finishing them all if you have some company!!
Servings 4 people

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 125 gm butter
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • First, make the popcorns using this method: How to Make Perfect Popcorn then set them aside.
    Combine all the rest of the ingredients in a pan, cook whilst stirring on medium to low heat until sugar has dissolved. Then bring this mixture to the boil.
    Boil the sauce on low heat uncovered, WITHOUT STIRRING, for 5 more minutes or until light golden. If you need to mix, just lift the pan and swirl the sauce around.
    Remove from heat and pour the caramel sauce over your popcorn. Stir until popcorn is coated then spread them over a tray to cool.
    Enjoy your crispy crunchy caramel popcorn!!

  2. Just one question.. I have made these twice now. Mixing the caramel in the popcorns is difficult, as mine start getting clumped together. How to get them to be nicely seperated? Sometimes, they even stick to the dish and break off when I try to pull them out.

  3. Grease the tray very lightly with butter so they don’t stick. The trick is to work fast, some will get clumped together but if you stir everything whilst the caramel is hot they will separate.

  4. All right then, shall do that next time iA 🙂 I think you really should start a section for recipes for diet conscious ppl as well.. just an idea!

    1. I have never kept them that
      I have never kept them that long, and would not recommend it. You can try but not sure how crispy they would remain in a week, even in an airtight container.

      Hi. Sounds like you kept stirring the sugar syrup even after it started boiling? That makes the sugar crystalise and harden. You should only mix until the sugar dissolves and once it starts boiling you should not stir it.
