Chana Chaat

A light, healthy and delicious spicy chickpea snack that can easily work as a meal on those warm summery days
Servings 4 people

Ingredients
  

  • 1 mug cooked chana/chickpeas
  • 1/2 tp 3/4 cup sweet tamarind sauce recipe link below
  • 3 potatoes peeled, diced into tiny pieces and then boiled until soft, and drained
  • 1 onion diced very finely
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp freshly ground cumin powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli flakes
  • 2-3 green chilies chopped
  • some fresh coriander chopped
  • salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Here is my tamarind sauce recipe: Sweet Tamarind
    Mix together all the channa chaat ingredients in a bowl. Taste and adjust flavours according to your preference. You can serve this warm or at room temperature. I love using this as a filling for my gol gappay recipe found HERE.

    Just to confirm, is it better to boil the potato before dicing them or to dice the potato and then boil?

    1. Hi Hina and thank you! Either way works, but I find it easier to peel, chop then boil the potatoes. They get done faster (coz they are tinier) and tend to hold their shape more neatly.
