Servings : Serves 4
When you want to make a light, quick, yet delicious dessert that your family will enjoy, this is the dessert for you!! I've used Marie biscuits for this one, but you can use just about any good solid sweet tea-biscuit that you like.
Ingredients
- 200gm tea biscuits
- 500ml whole milk
- 6 tbsp. sugar
- pinch of salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla essence
- 2 tsp. instant coffee mixed in 1/2 cup warm water
- 3 tbsp. corn flour/cornstarch
- 3 tbsp. cocoa powder
Instructions
First, prepare the coffee mixture. Let it cool to room temperature. Now remove half the biscuits from the packet (100gm) and proceed to dip each one on both sides then lay them out in a dish. Set aside.
Start preparing the pudding. Mix the corn flour and cocoa powder in a small bowl, add a few tbsp. of milk and stir together until you have a smooth paste without any lumps. If you add too much liquid at once, you won't be able to mix these well so go slow and add only enough milk to get the mixture into a paste.
Pour the rest of the milk into a pot and add the sugar n salt. Bring to the boil then lower the heat and add the vanilla. Then add the cocoa+cornflour paste and keep stirring. The pudding will start to thicken very quickly. Once it is of the consistency of custard…not too thin but not too thick, turn the heat off and take the pot off the stove.
Pour half the hot pudding onto the layered biscuits. You can sprinkle some nuts over this if you want. Now continue dipping the remaining half packet of the biscuits in the coffee as you did before and make another layer over the pudding. Finally pour the remaining pudding over the soaked biscuits and garnish with some nuts of your choice.
Let the biscuit pudding come to room temperature then cover and refrigerate until well-chilled. You can have it as it is, or serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
If you want a coffee-free version, dip the biscuits in some milk instead of coffee and proceed with the remainder of the recipe as directed.
Enjoy! 🙂

Chocolate powder of any sort.
Chocolate powder of any sort. I would not recommend nutella in place of cocoa powder, one is powder the other is paste, two different things. Best to try the recipe as is first and then make adjustments the next time. 🙂

You can add more cornflour to thicken it next time. Whole milk means full fat milk, it gives thicker results.

W/Salaam am well thanks.
W/Salaam am well thanks. Kishta will not have the same thickening effect as cornflour. Best to use cornflour or even custard powder.
Tried this recipe the other
Tried this recipe the other day… Ended up consuming the whole thing within 24 hours, lol! I didn’t have enough cornflour at the time – only 1-2tbsp – but still it turned out fine.
Some of the coffee-dipped biscuits tasted “karwa” – I guess ’cause I didn’t coat them properly with enough chocolate pudding.
But all in all, it was great!
Jazaakillaah khayr. May Allaah reward you with good 🙂

Made it exactly according to recipe and turned out super yummy. Kids ate the pudding straight from the pan it was sooo good! I dipped tea biscuits in milk which gave a perfect soft texture in the layers. Super duper like! Will add cherries, white chocolates shavings and nuts to serve for guests on Eid.

Is it just a single layer/stack of cookies in each layer or 2 layers of cookies on top of each other in each layer followed by pudding and so on?

Thank you. Tried it yesterday
Thank you. Tried it yesterday but didn’t come out as expected; when the cocoa mixture was added to the heating milk it kept separating into clumps even though the paste was smooth and I kept mixing. I think i need to make the paste thinner. Inshallah, I will try again.
