Servings 6 Wraps

Ingredients

Ingredients for Wraps

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • warm milk for kneading

Ingredients for Baked Chicken Strips

  • 750 gm boneless chicken breast cut into strips
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. garlic paste
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. chilli powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 cup fresh/dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 handful fresh coriander finely chopped

Instructions

For the wraps:

  • Knead the dough with warm milk until soft, then cover and set aside for about an hour to rest.
Make small balls out of the dough, about 6-7. Roll out each to the size of a thin roti, then cook without any oil on a roti pan/tava for a few minutes on each side until small bubbles appear and looks done. Don't over-cook as they will get hard, you need to be quick and on medium heat. Keep the done wraps wrapped under a cloth to retain softness.

For the Baked Chicken Strips:

  • In a shallow bowl mix together the mayonnaise, and all the spices and season with a little salt and pepper.
In a separate bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the coriander, add 1 teaspoon salt and the pepper.
One at a time, coat each chicken strip in the mayonnaise mixture, then dip it in the breadcrumbs mixture, turning to coat. Place in a container, cover, and store in the fridge for at least one hour.
Preheat oven to 200°C. Coat a baking sheet with a little oil and place the chicken strips on it. Roast for 10 minutes. Lower temperature to 180 C turn the strips over and continue to roast another 10-12 minutes or until golden and tender.
To serve take a wrap and add a touch of mayo, ketchup, chili sauce or any sauce of your choice. Add some chopped salad and a few strips of the baked chicken.
Roll it up and serve! 🙂

  1. asalaamalikum.. for roasting which part of the oven needs to be on? the bottom or the grill on top?
    jazakallah khair

    1. W/Salaam, my oven doesn’t have separate top and bottom, it automatically turns on the top grill mid-way through baking. Fan-assisted. I think stick with the bottom one halfway through baking then turn on the top to finish up the cooking.

  2. i noticed this recipe doesnt call for an egg dipping…. wud that change the taste f the strips? or theres no need bc of the mayo mixture helping coat the crumbs?
