Baked Chicken Strips

A yummy simple dish that anyone would enjoy! Tastes fantastic with fries or in a wrap with some salad.
Servings 4 people

Ingredients

  • 750 gm boneless chicken breast cut into strips
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. garlic paste
  • 1 tsp. paprika powder
  • 1/2 tsp. chilli powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 cup fresh/dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 handful fresh coriander chopped fine

Instructions

  • Put the mayonnaise, garlic paste and all the spices into a bowl and season lightly with some salt and pepper. Then mix it all well. In a separate bowl, add the herbs to the breadcrumbs plus a teaspoon each of salt and pepper.
Now dip one chicken piece at a time first into the mayonnaise mixture and then into the breadcrumbs mixture making sure to coat all the sides. Put them into a container and refrigerate for at least an hour or up to overnight for the flavours to infuse.
Preheat the oven to 200°C. Grease a baking tray lightly and then place the chicken strips on it. Bake for 10 minutes and then turn the heat down to 180 C and continue to roast for another 10-12 minutes.
Serve in a wrap, with a salad or with accompaniments of your choice.
    Enjoy!

  1. Your recipes are really wonderful. I tried some and they turned out really well. Jazaak-Allah Khair. If I may, can I please suggest to you to kindly change the background colour of your website. It is a bit difficult to read. Viewers might get put off. Thanks Fauzia. Hope you will take this suggestion positively. I really admire you selflessly sharing all ur recipes. U r doing a great job. Thanks again and again. God bless u and ur family.

    1. Thanks dear. Am surprised that you had difficulty with background colour, the background is pale cream and the font/writing is maroon. There is a good contrast there making it very easy to read. What colour background does it appear on your end? Are you browsing from a phone or computer?

        1. Should be the same amount of time, just keep checking on them until they are tender. Do not overbake.

    1. You can although it would be a bit too much coz the strips are marinated in mayonnaise, frying them would make them greasy.

  4. Inshallah i am going to try this recipe. Please can you tell me whether i can keep the coated strips in the fridge overnight instead of just one hour? Jzk sister x

Thank you for your recipes, my husband is one happy man now!!

Fantastic site i have been looking for a site this for such a long time…and alhamdulilah i found you. so jakallah. Sister i noticed that mayonnaise is used in a variety of your recipes. However due to my doubt over the consumption of vinegar becuase of a hadith a scholar had mentioned in which the prophet muhammad pbuh did not permit it in this hadith. i know its forme is changed from alcohol however i have serious doubt.i know mayonnaise contains vinegar so as of my doubt i dont eat it aswell as other sauces. i dont eat. i just wanted to know is there an alternative i could use…also sister… i was wondering if you had an y ideas on making a marinade for chickne as a topping for pizza thanks sister. i mean these l;uk fab i think they would taste really nice siced on a pizza.

Hi fauzia, should we bake this strips on an oven dish or directly upon a high rack with baking sheet???

Hi, place the strips on a baking sheet which is lined with foil (lightly oil the foil before placing the strips on it). No need for an oven dish. 🙂

  9. Hi Fauzia, tried this recipe
Hi Fauzia, tried this recipe in bulk so I could freeze and use for my daughters lunch box in wraps. I followed everything exactly but found that my breadcrumbs stuck to the foil and we’re falling off when I had to turn them. They only had half of what I coated them with and I did oil the sheet beforehand too. Any reason why that must’ve happened?

    1. Hi, not sure but could it be
Hi, not sure but could it be that the breadcrumbs were made from fresh slices of bread instead of dry toasted bread?

Salam sis. In the step where you have combined the crumbs and corriander, can we omit the coriander. My kids are very picky and if they see the green stuff they won’t eat.

    1. W/Salaam, yes you can totally
W/Salaam, yes you can totally omit the coriander, it is just there for added flavour. If your kids prefer dried herbs you can use those like oregano or dried parsley otherwise even without them the strips turn out awesome. 🙂
