Tzatziki Sauce
Tzatziki is a Greek sauce served with grilled meats or as a dip. It goes really well with my Chicken Gyro recipe coming soon.
Servings 2 Cups
Ingredients
- 2 cups thick plain greek yoghurt if you are using regular yoghurt, make sure to strain it to remove excess water
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 1 small cucumber
- salt and pepper to taste
- some chopped dill or mint as per your preference
Instructions
- Peel and cut the cucumber in half length-wise. Scoop out and discard the centre with all the seeds. Then grate the cucumber and squeeze out all the water from it.Whisk the yoghurt with a fork, add the grated cucumber and all the other ingredients. Mix, then taste and adjust seasonings to your liking. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes in order for the flavours to develop.Serve as an accompaniment to wraps or BBQ meats.Enjoy! 🙂
As salaam waleikum Fauzia,
As salaam waleikum Fauzia,
I made this recipe several Time and I was surprises How good it was. I used to buy it from stores, but I didnt like the big chunks of cucumber. Even though I couldn’t find Greek yogort thanks for the alternative. Now I know What to do when I need thick yogurt thanks to you. I even went to a Greek restaurant this weekend and tried their chicken gyro and both your chicken and your Tzaziki was tastier than theirs! The kitchen is like a battlefield for me as I am not really good but I can always count on you to make good meal.
