Tortilla Chips

Servings : Serves 4

Whenever I have some leftover tortillas, I love making this quick crunchy snack for my family.  It’s incredibly easy to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 8 tortillas (recipe link below)
  • oil (as needed)
  • spices (optional)

Instructions

First, you will need some tortillas.  HERE is my tortilla recipe

There are 2 ways to prepare the chips, fried and baked versions.  Of course the fried ones taste a lot better but the baked ones are slightly healthier.

FRIED TORTILLA CHIPS

Cup up tortillas into wedges.  You can season them lightly with a spice of your choice if you want, like red chillies.  Heat oil in a pan and deep fry them when the oil is very hot.  They will literally take seconds to crispen. Drain and allow to cool, then serve with condiments of your choice!

BAKED TORTILLA CHIPS

Brush oil lightly on both sides of your tortillas, sprinkle some seasoning of your choice if you like then cut them up into wedges.  Preheat your oven at 180C.  Place the tortilla pieces on a tray and bake them until crisp and golden, around 10 minutes.  Remember to flip them midway through baking so that both sides are nice and crisp.  Allow to cool, then serve with a dip of your choice!
