Sweet and Hot Chilli Dip

This is a milder red chilli dip with a great twist. One of it’s ingredients is dates!! This makes it mildly sweet, giving it a really lovely flavour and texture. It’s really enjoyable with potatoes/bhajias, kichra/haleem or biryani/pilau.


  • 10 fresh (not dried) red chillies (of course, use more or less according to your taste)
  • 5 dates/khajur, deseeded and chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce/ketchup
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • water as needed for blending


Put everything in a blender, and blend until smooth. Adjust consistency/spice to suit your preference.

Store in an airtight jar in the refrigerator, or freeze and use a little at a time whenever you need it!
