Servings : Serves 3-4
This is a different idea for your pizza's topping, using cooked minced meat (keema) as the main topping.
Ingredients for Mince Topping
- 350 gm minced meat (any of your choice, you can even use boneless shredded chicken or shredded meat/beef/mutton etc.)
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp ginger paste
- salt to taste
- 2 tsp black pepper
- 2 small onions, chopped fine
- 1 small capsicum, cubed
- 2 tbsp tomato paste/puree
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp tandoori masala or paprika powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 4 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
- juice of half a lemon
- 2 green chillies, chopped
Ingredients for Pizza Dough
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour/plain flour
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 5 tbsp oil
- 1 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp instant yeast (use 2 tsp. for colder climates)
- 2 pinches baking powder
- warm milk mixed with a bit of water for kneading
Instructions
First, prepare the Topping
Heat the oil, then add the onions and fry till soft. Add the ginger, garlic pastes followed by the capsicum. Cook for a minute, then add the mince and the turmeric, tandoori and cumin powders, plus salt. Once you've broken all the lumps, add the tomato paste and green chilies. Cook until the mince is almost dry, and then add the lemon juice and coriander leaves. Finally when mince is completely dry, sprinkle the garam masala and set aside to cool.
Next, prepare the Pizza Dough
Mix all the dry ingredients and the oil, then slowly start adding the warm milk a little at a time. Get it to a soft dough (the softer the better). Knead it very well for at least 8 minutes or more if possible.
Dab a touch of oil all over the dough, then cover it and place it somewhere warm. Leave it to rise to double its size, takes about 30 mins to an hour depending on the weather.
Once risen, punch it down, give it a quick knead, divide in half and roll out each half either in rounds or rectangle shapes to the thickness of your choice. For a thinner crust, roll it out bigger. If you want a thick crust then don't roll it out too much. Place on your greased pizza pan/tray. Again cover the tray with a light cloth/towel and let the base rest/rise slightly for about 15-20 mins.
Next, add your toppings, starting with the pizza sauce, followed by a bit of shredded cheese, then the mincemeat topping, and whatever other toppings you like, sweet corn, sliced onion, sliced capsicum, olives etc.
Next add shredded cheese again and drizzle with a bit of ketchup.
Bake the pizza in a pre-heated oven at 180C for about 20-25mins. Keep an eye on it and adjust the baking time according to your oven. It could take more or less time.
Enjoy! 🙂
