Servings : Serves 4-5
An easy and healthy recipe. Make sure you use a fresh plain good quality THICK yoghurt for best results.
Ingredients
- 1 chicken cut into 8 pcs or half a kilo of boneless chicken breast, cubed
- 2 green capsicum
- small bunch of coriander
- 2 green chillies
- 300ml yoghurt (approximately or more if you want extra gravy)
- 1 tbsp. tomato paste
- salt
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. garlic
- 2 tbsp. oil
- pinch of turmeric
- pinch of garam masala
Instructions
First cut the capsicum and add it with the yoghurt, coriander and green chilies into a blender and blend until smooth.
Pour this mixture into a pan over the chicken. Add all the other ingredients into the chicken.
Simmer gently till chicken is soft, adding water if necessary (depends on preference in consistency).
Once ready, smoke the curry for 3-4 minutes by using a lit coal on a piece of foil in the middle of the pan and adding a drop of oil on it then covering the pan for the dish to absorb all the bbq aroma.
Serve with naan or rice. 🙂

Assalam u alaikum Fauzia, what if im using 250 gms of boneless chicken which is the half the quantity used in ur recipe. So shall i also divide all the other added ingredients into half?
W/Salaam, yes divide everything else in half.
jazaakallah fauzia!
Assalamu Alaikum Is it ok if I skip the last step with the charcoal? Will it still taste good? JzK
W/salaam, yes that is fine.
Do we have to marinate the chicken first?
No need to marinate.
hi Fauzia, eti while its simmering do you cover it?
Hi, yes you can cover it, it helps retain moisture in the chicken.
i just finished eating and im like…WOW!,i was only able to eat this in restaurants but thanx to you i just made some and it actually tastes REALY good, im young and trying to master my coocking skills and now because of u,im sure im going to be a great coock…Thanx Fauzia, God bless you!
Al hamdulillah i tried this today, & it was yummy
aslm. I followed ur instructions except for the charcoal, but the curry was green not like urs golden. the coriander should it be only leaves or we may use powder also. I used green capsicum, which colour did u use: yellow or red?
W/Salaam, just a small bunch of fresh coriander not the powder. And I used green capsicum. Maybe you used a lot of coriander and did you add the turmeric and tomato paste? That should turn the colour yellow-golden unless too much coriander was used. But as long as the taste was good, that is what counts.
Salaams Fauzia. This is a simple enough recipe but i didn’t quite understand the smoking part. Wouldn’t the lit coal burn through the foil? wouldn’t there be ash on the chicken? when u say in the middle of the pan do u mean we push the chicken to the edges of the pan to make a ‘valley’ to put the lit coal in? Afwan my imaginative mind has run away with me! 🙂
W/Salaam, no there will be no ash, and no it will not burn through the foil. and yes make a slight vally or just gently place the foil on the gravy and then place the coal on top of it. 🙂
shukran Fauzia we appreciate you- my kids are happy with my ‘borrowed’ cooking skills 😉
Salam, how much cups of youghurt is 300 ml?

Between 1 kg to 1.5 kg will
Between 1 kg to 1.5 kg will be fine if using chicken with bones. For boneless, half kg is good enough.
