Servings : Serves 4-5
An easy and healthy recipe. Make sure you use a fresh plain good quality THICK yoghurt for best results.
Ingredients
- 1 chicken cut into 8 pcs or half a kilo of boneless chicken breast, cubed
- 2 green capsicum
- small bunch of coriander
- 2 green chillies
- 300ml yoghurt (approximately or more if you want extra gravy)
- 1 tbsp. tomato paste
- salt
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. garlic
- 2 tbsp. oil
- pinch of turmeric
- pinch of garam masala
Instructions
First cut the capsicum and add it with the yoghurt, coriander and green chilies into a blender and blend until smooth.
Pour this mixture into a pan over the chicken. Add all the other ingredients into the chicken.
Simmer gently till chicken is soft, adding water if necessary (depends on preference in consistency).
Once ready, smoke the curry for 3-4 minutes by using a lit coal on a piece of foil in the middle of the pan and adding a drop of oil on it then covering the pan for the dish to absorb all the bbq aroma.
Serve with naan or rice. 🙂

Hi, I tried cooking chicken
Hi, I cooked chicken for the first time today, using this recipe as it seemed the simplest. Thank you for giving me the confidence to do that!
The gravy turned out green, though, as maybe the capsicum I used was too big.
I have a question – does the yoghurt leave water… or was that the chicken? The gravy started leaving water after a few minutes, even though I used thick yoghurt. What I had done was that I’d put the chicken in the pan, then immediately poured the blended mixture on top. Did I do something wrong.. was I supposed to wait a few minutes or something?
Hi, it could be the yoghurt
Hi, it could be the yoghurt or even the chicken at times.

Hi, it takes anywhere between 25-35 minutes depending on the size of the chicken pieces. You will need to check to see that it is cooked. Add tomato paste in the section where it says to add all the other ingredients.

Hi, did you use chicken with
Hi, did you use chicken with the skin on? Am surprised that it is oily as it is a recipe that only uses 2 tbsp of oil per chicken. As for the water, seems that the chicken has released a lot of water, just remove the chicken (if it has been cooked) and simmer down the sauce until it thickens to your preference.
