Bell Pepper Beef Stir Fry
A quick, healthy and delicious steak dish, goes well with fried rice or pasta or baked/fried potatoes or naan.
Servings 4 people
Ingredients
- 500 gm steak cut into strips
- 3-4 bell peppers sliced lengthwise (assorted colors if possible)
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp. ginger paste
- 1 tsp. garlic paste
- 1 tsp. tomato paste/puree
- 2 onions sliced thinly
- 1 tsp. red chilli powder
- 1 tsp. paprika powder
- 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
- splash of soya sauce
- 2 tbsp. oil
- 2-3 green chillies chopped
Instructions
- Boil the steak (with a pinch of salt, half tsp. each of ginger and garlic pastes and a dash of black pepper) in a pressure cooker until tender (about 10-15 minutes). You can boil in a regular pan if you don’t have a pressure cooker, it will take longer…just boil until the meat is tender. Reserve any stock/broth that remains after the meat boils, we will add that to the dish.Heat oil in a wok, then add the onion slices and fry until they become translucent. Add the sliced bell-peppers and stir fry for about 3-4 minutes until they start to turn tender. Add the tomato paste, ginger and garlic paste, chilli powder, turmeric and paprika. Then add the steak with whatever stock/liquid remained in it after boiling. Simmer together for about 5 minutes (you can add water if you want a bit of gravy). Add the chopped green chillies and a splash of soya sauce, then taste for salt and adjust. Turn off the heat and serve!Enjoy! 🙂
