- 500 gm beef or mutton mince preferably grinded 2-3 times at the butchery but without any fat
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp. yoghurt
- 2 tbsp. grated raw pawpaw
- 2 tsp. chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 tsp. crushed cumin optional, I always add
- bunch of chopped coriander
- 2 tbsp. oil
- 1 tsp. garlic paste
- 2 tsp. ginger paste
- 1/2 tsp. cardamom powder
- 2 tbsp. of fried onions crushed
Mix everything together thoroughly, then using a coal, smoke the mixture for 5 minutes. Then cover and refrigerate for a few hours to develop the flavor and for the mixture to get marinated well.Shape into balls, you will get about 24-25 balls. Grease a tray and pre-heat your oven to 200-220 C. Bake for 10mins, then remove tray and turn the kababs over and bake again for another 10-12 minutes until they are a nice color. Do not over-bake otherwise they will get hard, these are supposed to be yummy and tender.Serve hot and enjoy!
