Instructions
For the Fillet Steak
Use the VERY best cut of meat for this recipe, beef tenderloin like filet mignon would be perfect, any lesser quality will NOT yield the same tender delicious results!
With such a good cut of meat, you need very minimum ingredients. Avoid extra aromatic spices like cumin n turmeric n tandoori masalas etc.
Put the meat with its marinade in a pressure cooker. Add 1 tbsp. of tomato paste, 1/2 tsp. each of garlic n ginger paste plus juice of half a lemon. Chop one green chilli over it and add 1/4 cup of water. Bring to a simmer, then cover the pressure cooker and let it cook for 10-15 minutes. The fillet should be ready by then coz it takes a very short while to cook. Let the steam get released, then open and check. You can simmer and dry it off if you do not like any extra sauce/gravy or if you want the sauce to thicken up. If it's still not tender enough, give it another 2-3 minutes in the pressure cooker. Check and adjust for salt and chilli. Serve with fries or mashed potatoes and a salad.
For the Mashed Potatoes
Use white potatoes for best results. Using 1 kg potatoes…adjust to the amount you will need.
Peel and wash your potatoes then cut each one into about 4-6 cubes. Rinse them out then put them in a pan. Add water and salt, bring to a boil and once that happens be sure to keep the heat on medium and cover your pot.
Boil until a knife easily pierces through the potatoes. Drain and put the potatoes into a bowl. Add 2-3 tbsp. of butter, 2 tbsp. of milk or cream, some salt, pepper or red chilli powder can be added if preferred. You can even add some lemon, chilli flakes and coriander if you want. Mash whilst the potatoes are hot.
Serve immediately and Enjoy!
How much meat? I somehow scanned through the whole thing and haven’t seen it.
Sorry about that, in the transfer of recipes, the amount of meat was accidentally omitted. I have edited it now to include that.
Hi Fauzia,
Is there any substitute to red chili powder?? I can’t eat red chili. Once ,I tried one of your recipe without the red chili powder, it became dull. It was not reddish like in the photo. Can it be replaced by tandoori powder or paprika powder???
