Servings : Makes 20 squares
These beautiful and delicious squares are the perfect magical slices indeed!! They start off with a buttery crumb base, followed by layers of milk chocolate chips, chopped dates, dessicated coconut, almond flakes and to top it all off, a luxurious rich layer of condensed sweet milk to hold everything together!! The whole thing is then baked, cooled and then sliced up. Truly a magnificent combination, and they were a HIT on Eid day!!
Of course these may be too rich to have all the time, but they are perfect for when you have guests or for a party or to be served as treats on those extra special days/holidays. Guaranteed to be the talk of the party!! :))
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups digestive or tea-biscuits (150 gm)
- 75gm butter, melted
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips (170 gm)
- 1 cup dates (de-seeded and chopped)
- 1 cup desiccated coconut
- 1 cup flaked almonds
- 395gm sweetened condensed milk (1 can)
Instructions
Preheat the oven at 180 C.
Grease an 8 inch square pan.
Grind the digestives into a fine powder and then combine the biscuit crumbs with the melted butter until it resembles wet sand. Press mixture into pan, making sure to flatten it down completely.
Next, sprinkle a layer of the chocolate chips, followed by the deseeded and chopped dates, coconut and almond flakes.
Finally, carefully pour the condensed milk evenly over top.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown & the center is firm.
Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
Enjoy! 🙂
