Servings : Makes 2 Sandwiches
This gorgeous spicy shrimp sandwich tastes amazing and is incredibly easy to put together.
Ingredients
- 250 gm medium shrimp or prawns, peeled and deveined (approximately 10-12 shrimp)
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp red chilli flakes
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tbsp hot sauce
- 2 sandwich rolls or hot dog buns
- 4-5 lettuce leaves, roughly chopped
- 1 tomato, sliced
Instructions
For a milder version, reduce or omit the chilli and substitute the hot sauce with ketchup.
In a bowl, add the cleaned shrimp, cumin, garlic, salt, chilli powder, oregano, black pepper and 1 tbsp of the oil. Mix together and set aside for 10 minutes to marinate.
Heat the remaining 1 tbsp of oil in a pan and add the chopped onion, cook until lightly golden. Then add the marinated shrimp, cook until pink and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes.
In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, lime juice and hot sauce. Lightly toast the sandwich rolls and slit them, apply this spicy mayonnaise mixture on the inside. Next add the chopped lettuce, followed by half of the cooked shrimp on each sandwich. Top up with sliced tomatoes and serve.
Enjoy! 🙂
