Tandoori Chicken Burger
A unique ‘desi’ twist to the regular chicken burger, this one’s flavour is intensified by the addition of some special ingredients and a deliciously creamy sauce that elevates the burger to something truly spectacular.
Ingredients for Burger Patties
- 500 gm chicken mince
- 1/2 red onion grated (squeeze out and discard the excess moisture)
- 1/4 cup green onions chopped
- 1 tbsp yoghurt
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 1/2 tsp tandoori masala
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
Ingredients for Sauce
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup thick plain yoghurt
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh mint
- 1/4 tsp ground cumin
- salt & pepper to taste
Other Ingredients
- Burger buns split
- 1/2 red onion thinly sliced
- fresh coriander
- tomato slices
- cucumber slices
- lettuce leaves
Put the mince in a bowl, add all the remaining ingredients and mix well to combine. Refrigerate for an hour or up to overnight for the flavours to fully develop and for the mince to be easier to handle and shape.Prepare the sauce by mixing all the sauce ingredients, taste and adjust. Refrigerate for at least an hour.Divide the mince mixture into 6 and form round patties. Grill these until cooked on both sides or pan fry in a lightly oiled pan until cooked through on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.Assemble the burgers and drizzle some of the sauce over them just before serving.Enjoy! 🙂
