Date Almond Shake

One of my favorite after Iftar drinks. This healthy and delicious shake will both fill you up as well as give you that extra burst of energy that will refresh & rejuvenate your body after a long day of fasting.
Servings 2 p

Ingredients

  • 3 cups chilled milk whole or skimmed
  • 10 almonds blanched/peeled and crushed
  • 10 soft dates deseeded and chopped
  • 1 large scoop vanilla ice-cream

Instructions

  • In a blender, add the dates, crushed almonds and 1 cup of the chilled milk. Blend until the dates are well combined and smooth. Add the remaining milk and vanilla ice-cream. Blend until frothy. Taste and adjust consistency by adding milk to thin the shake or ice-cream to thicken/sweeten it. Serve cold!
    Enjoy!

Notes

To blanch/peel almonds, heat some water in a small pan. Once almost boiling, add the almonds into it, turn off the heat and allow the almonds to sit for about 2 minutes. Drain and the peels should easily slide off the almonds when pressed.
