- 1 kg fillet steak best cut cut into thin slices of about half inch thickness or slightly less
- 1 heaped tsp. ginger paste
- 1 heaped tsp. garlic paste
- salt/pepper to taste - about 1 tsp of each
- juice of 1 lemon
- 1-2 eggs beaten with a pinch of salt and pepper and 1 tsp milk
- 1/2 cup plain/all purpose flour - seasoned with salt and pepper
- oil for shallow frying
Cut the slices into average sized pieces. Marinate the steak pieces in a paste made from the ginger/garlic pastes, salt, pepper and lemon juice. Then take each piece of fillet and using a meat mallet, pound it until it is very very thin.Whip 1-2 eggs with a touch of salt and 1 tsp. milk, set aside.Mix 1/2 cup of plain flour, seasoned with salt and pepper powder, set aside.Heat about 2-3 inches of oil in a pan.Now take one piece of pounded steak fillet at a time, dip it in the egg on both sides followed by the flour. Make sure the flour coats the pieces completely. Then fry on medium to low heat on both sides for about 7-10 minutes approximately, or until the steaks are done on the inside and brown and crisp on the outside.Drain on kitchen tissues and serve with fries or whatever you like.Enjoy!
