Another tribute to my love for prawns!! My favourite sea-food pizza is the prawn pizza!

This recipe makes one 12" pizza, and it is enough for 3 very hungry people or 4 if you have any sides like garlic bread, fries, salad etc.

Ingredients for Prawn Topping
200 gm
small prawns, shelled and de-veined
- marinated for 30 minutes in some salt, lemon, red chilli powder, drop of garlic paste and tandoori masala
2 tbsp
capsicum, chopped
onion, chopped
tomato, chopped
1 tbsp
tomato sauce/ketchup
1 tbsp
tomato paste/puree
green chillies, chopped
1/2 tsp
garlic paste
1/2 tsp
Ingredients for Pizza Dough
2 1/2 cups
all-purpose flour/plain flour
1 1/2 tsp
5 tbsp
1 1/2 tsp
1 1/2 tsp
instant yeast
(use 2 tsp. for colder climates)
2 pinches
baking powder
warm milk mixed with a bit of water for kneading

First prepare the Topping

Heat the oil, add the onion and fry until softened, next add the garlic paste followed by the chopped capsicum. Cook for a few seconds then add the chopped tomato. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy. Add the tomato paste, chopped green chilli and the prawns. Stir them in and cook for a few minutes. You can add about 2 tbsp. or so of water if needed, but don't add too much...we don't want the mixture too watery. Lastly add the oregano and stir it in. Let this topping cool.

Then prepare the Pizza Dough

Mix all the dry ingredients and the oil, then slowly start adding the warm milk a little at a time. Get it to a soft dough, the softer the better, knead it very well for at least 8 minutes or more if possible.

Dab a touch of oil all over the dough, then cover it and place it somewhere warm. Leave it to rise to double its size, takes about 30 minutes to an hour depending on the weather.

Once the dough has risen, punch it down, give it a quick knead and then roll it out to about 12 inches diameter and place on your greased pizza pan/tray. Again cover the tray with a light cloth/towel and let the base rest/rise slightly for about 15-20 minutes.

Make small slits on the base to make sure it doesn't swell up during baking. Drizzle 1 tbsp. of ketchup over the base, spread it with the back of a spoon then sprinkle a small handful of grated mozzarella cheese. Then add the cooked prawns topping and spread that out with a spoon too. Sprinkle some extra chopped capsicum and sliced onions over the pizza. Sprinkle more cheese (I like mixing mozzarella with cheddar) over the topping and then drizzle with a little bit of ketchup to add colour if you want.

Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 C for about 25 minutes or until the pizza is done and the cheese is melted.

Serve hot and enjoy! :)

I made this pizza today and it turned out fabulously yummy. Although it wasn"t as good looking as urs but its taste and texture was excellent. Im so thankful for such a great recipe

Asalam alaikum. I like the receipe of your dough. I would recommend if u use garlic salt instead of salt and see the result.

Salam, can I bake pizza in an electric oven that has it's heating element at the top only?

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

W/Salaam, it should be ok but you need some heat from the bottom too in order to make sure the base is fully cooked.

Fauzia can u please tell me that i have purchases pizza spread ..where should it can b used..and secondly u guided pizza suase method ....so that sauce can just b used in prepartion of topping or it should b used in drzzling over the pizza dough

Not sure what pizza spread is. Is it like pizza sauce? If so then use it in place of the pizza sauce.

Hi ! .. how to make cheese for pizza at home ??

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

Hi, sorry I do not have a recipe for cheese made at home.

Assalamualaikum.w.b.t. Can I half bake the pizza and put the ingredients on it..n later bake it at iftayr tym.wil my pizza dough wil raise then.

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

If you add the toppings and let them sit on the base for a while, the base will end up getting very soggy even if it is half-baked. Best to half bake the base, then when ready for your pizza, add the toppings and bake straight away.

Salam, do i have to pre-bake the pizza base, if i want to make dough today, and then make the pizza tomorrow? Jazakillah for the yummy recipes.

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

W/Salaam, yes since you are prepping ahead you can half bake the base, do not overbake it as it may end up getting hard when you re-bake it later with the toppings.

pls lt me know how much milk n water needs to b used in cup measurement.jazakallah khair.

Difficult to estimate the amount of liquid needed to make the dough, just add gradually as you knead until you have a soft dough.
