Bread Pizza

A quick and easy version of mini-pizzas, where the base is actually a slice of bread! Couldn't get simpler, especially when you want a yummy treat for your family and don't have the time or energy to knead the dough from scratch.

bread slices
(you can use whole-wheat/brown bread, or plain white bread)
pizza sauce
(recipe link below)
(suggestions below)
mozzarella & cheddar cheese, grated

Preheat your oven at 170 C.

Lay out your bread slices on a baking tray. Apply a thin layer of pizza sauce on each slice. Recipe of sauce here: Pizza Sauce

Sprinkle a little bit of cheese on top of the pizza sauce. I used mozzarella. This helps the topping to 'grip' to the base, so you won't have topping that falls off your pizza.

Then add whatever topping you like on the slices. I used this one: Spicy Chicken Filling

You can include additional toppings if you like, I added slices of onion, some extra capsicum strips, sweet corn, pineapple chunks.

Finally, sprinkle some more cheese and drizzle a little bit of ketchup on top.

Bake until the cheese is melted. Remember, the bread is already cooked, so they don't need to bake too long. It should take around 10 minutes or so, keep an eye on them and get them out when the cheese is all melted and slightly golden.

I mostly use my oven toaster to make these quick pizzas, saves on a lot of energy as opposed to baking them in an oven.

Let them cool slightly on a rack so the bases stay nice and crisp.

Enjoy your quickie pizza-fix!

My question can i use eggs instead of cheese??

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

W/Salaam, have not tried with eggs. Cheese add a lovely finish to these.

assalamoalaikum... thnku fr a wnderful recipe, can we use microwave or any other way to cook because i hve no oven(

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

W/Salaam. Sorry but am not a fan of using the microwave for cooking/baking as it is not very healthy to do that. If you have baked before in your microwave then yes you can. Have you tried baking on the stove top? :)

Assalamu allaikum,
Dear sister I made the bread pizza for Iftar ystday ,mashallah it turned out very well,my sis-in-laws family with us,they all loved it.jazakallah for such an easy and delightfull recipe.

Hi, I never cook in the microwave so cannot assist in this, sorry!

Tried it on a sunday evening and my husband loved it. Both of us had an extra helping and relished each bite. Thank you so much for the recipe. :)

The cheese I used is called picon. Pls can u suggest which product to buy or can I use d one called la vache?

I dnt knw which type it is d whole writting is in arabic d

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

I see, maybe try and ask at the supermarket for pizza cheese or mozarella. :)

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

No I did not mean the brand of cheese you used, I wouldn't know what brands are available in your country. I mean the type of cheese, like was it mozzarella, cheddar, etc? Which kind of cheese was it?

Hi, This looks really yum...Can you just instruct how to make this on gasstove in nonstick pan.

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

Hi, thanks. Keep the heat low and the pan covered until the bread is toasted and the cheese melts. It may not brown due to no heat from the top, but it will still taste great. :)

assalamoualaikoum wrwb sister hope u n family r doing great.....tried zis 2day n alhamdulilla it was delicious... although the cheese did not melt [melbourne cheddar cheese], every1 liked it....was great.... jazaakillahu khayran 4 all zez wonderful , delicious, finger licking gud.... n easy recipes.... baarakallahou fiki... tek ker.... ma'as salaama....

Salam sis can I use laughing cow cheese for this recipe because d cheese you recommends is not found where am residing..tanx in advance

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

W/Salaam, no laughing cow will not work as a pizza topping. Am sure the cheeses should be available at your supermarkets, try checking please. They are very common cheeses!

hey can you please tell me if i should turn on the lower flame in the oven or upper griller?as i dont have oven toaster i use gas oven.
also if the bread is ready made whether its slice bread or the pizza bread.

Hi, top one for these.

Hi Fauzia, Can I replace chicken with mushroom in the filling of this bread pizza? If yes, will it be alright to add lemon juice in the end?

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

Hi, yes you can use mushrooms if you prefer. And yes you can add lemon juice.

All your recipes turn out so tasty that I can't resist eating the food and everytime I miss taking a photograph for you. I guess that is a good thing? :)
I made it with chicken this time and the filling was very tasty. I will try with mushroom next time to see how the lemon - musroom combination tastes like without any chicken. Thanks.
I worship your recipes! (Masha Allah)

I wud also lyk to add,it recipes are truly lovely..May Allah bless u for sharing ur ideas with us !!thank u!!!

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

Hi, thank you! Difficult to say because it depends on how much toppings you plan on adding per slice. Approximately 20 slices or more.

Salam fouzia..i have tried ur many rcpies n all turned fantastic...but when i made this quick fix pizza for my inlaws last week but aah it didnt turn out perfect...i used gase oven n grilled them..i layed them on greased tray but they were soaggy from the bottom..dnt know why..when i toaseted them on stove tbey became hard. Plz tell me why its happened

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

W/Salaam, sounds like the sauce or toppings may have been too soggy to begin with. Try to ensure they are not very wet.

Assalamualaikum i try ur recipies all r so gud n tasty but till now i cant make any baking recipies of urs which all i wanna make. I ve simple microwave. Plz help m which kind of oven i shud buy to make all ur recipies.

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

W/Salaam, I always prefer an electric oven with a gas stove-top. Baking turns out best in electric ovens whilst pot/pan cooking always is easier on a gas burner. Make sure the brand of oven you select is one that has warranty and is recognised, a good investment in a good oven could save you decades of agony as opposed to buying a cheaper make and having to replace it within a few years. Make sure you get a fan-assisted oven, speeds up baking and makes sure heat is evenly distributed in the oven. Also, check that the oven has a grill/broiler, this will be handy for browning the tops of such things as buns/cakes/naans etc. Get a spacious oven that can take at least 2 eight inch cake pans side by side with about 1 inch space all around. All the best! :)

Finger licking as usual n super fast thankssss always mannnn!!!

These were awesome! Great quick-fix if you have all the ingredients handy

Aoa....Kindly tell me that what is oven toaster?? Is it a sandwich toaster a bread toaster??and how u make bread pozza in that??

Fauzia's Kitchen Fun's picture

It is like a tiny oven that sits on the counter top. You can google to see how it looks. You can use a regular oven.
